This unit of competency defines the skills and knowledge required to coordinate the erection, alteration, repair and dismantling of scaffolding/equipment in workshops, factories, manufacturing plants and warehouses, and applies to individuals coordinating a scaffolding team or employed in a supervisory capacity.

Complex scaffolding means intermediate scaffolding and above as set out the legislative requirements in each state and territory. The major difference between the complex and basic scaffolding is the height of the working platform and certain types of scaffolding and configurations.

Depending on the equipment being used a high risk work licence may be required and users should check with the relevant authorities.

Signage and barriers include one (1) or more of the following:	physical barriers (para webbing, bollards, timber or metal barriers) warning/direction signs personnel to restrict unauthorised access (spotters) permit signage
